O m\u00e9todo proposto \u00e9 dividido em dois est\u00e1gios: pr\u00e9-processamento e classifica\u00e7\u00e3o dos eventos. No primeiro est\u00e1gio, os sinais das oscilografias s\u00e3o decompostos utilizando a transformada wavelet. A energia presente em cada sub-banda do dom\u00ednio wavelet \u00e9 ent\u00e3o calculada para compor vetores de caracter\u00edsticas, que s\u00e3o utilizados como entradas para os classificadores do segundo est\u00e1gio. Os classificadores investigados s\u00e3o baseados em redes neurais artificiais feed-forward do tipo Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) e Support Vector Machines (SVM), as quais s\u00e3o capazes de promover de maneira autom\u00e1tica a sele\u00e7\u00e3o de entradas e o controle de complexidade da rede simultaneamente. Experimentos usando dados simulados forneceram resultados promissores para a classifica\u00e7\u00e3o de eventos de qualidade de energia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Palavras-chave:<\/strong> Classifica\u00e7\u00e3o de faltas;
