F de<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong>Resumo:<\/strong> Este artigo apresenta um modelo de Rede Neural Artificial (RNA) desenvolvido para prever varia\u00e7\u00f5es extremas do n\u00edvel do mar costeiro conhecido como storm surge, na regi\u00e3o sudeste do Brasil, relacionado \u00e0 passagem de sistemas frontais associados aos ciclones extratropicais que causam tempestades severas. As for\u00e7antes astron\u00f4micas s\u00e3o as principais causas da varia\u00e7\u00e3o di\u00e1ria do n\u00edvel do mar, por\u00e9m, a influ\u00eancia de fen\u00f4menos meteorol\u00f3gicos \u00e9 verificada tamb\u00e9m nos levantamentos e abaixamentos do n\u00edvel observado e tende a ser mais dr\u00e1stica de acordo com a intensidade do evento. S\u00e9ries hor\u00e1rias do n\u00edvel do mar referentes a duas esta\u00e7\u00f5es maregr\u00e1ficas foram utilizadas, bem como dados de press\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica e componente zonal e meridional do vento das rean\u00e1lises do NCEP\/NCAR, nos hor\u00e1rios de 00, 06, 12 e 18 UTC sobre a \u00e1rea oce\u00e2nica. As correla\u00e7\u00f5es entre as vari\u00e1veis meteorol\u00f3gicas e o n\u00edvel do mar costeiro definiram os atrasos entre as respostas relacionadas aos sistemas atmosf\u00e9ricos extremos. Essas correla\u00e7\u00f5es e atrasos foram utilizados como entradas do modelo neural. Simula\u00e7\u00f5es para previs\u00e3o do n\u00edvel do mar at\u00e9 48 horas foram realizadas e os resultados comparados com o modelo de regress\u00e3o linear multivariada.
